Greater Vancouver Charity Classic tees off for Surrey Memorial Hospital
Surrey, B.C. – Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation is the charity of choice for this year’s Greater Vancouver Charity Classic, held June 18th to the 24th at Hazelmere Golf Club in Surrey.
With the support of the RBC Financial Group, the event hopes to raise close to $100,000 for the Foundation’s Emergency Centre Campaign. “We are extremely grateful to be involved in an event of this calibre and high profile,” says Foundation President/CEO Jane Adams. “With support like this, Surrey Memorial Hospital will soon have a new, state-of-the-art Emergency Centre.”
The Greater Vancouver Charity Classic is a not-for-profit golf tournament hosted by the Canadian Tour and the West Coast Golf group. Official World Golf Ranking points are awarded to the top six finishers at the event.
The Canadian Tour has been the proving ground for many current PGA Tour Stars. Players such as Chris Dimarco, Stuart Appleby, Michael Campbell, and Canada’s own Mike Weir all had their start on the Canadian Tour.
On April 19th, 2007, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation launched its $15 million Emergency Centre Campaign. The B.C. government has committed to funding the essentials of a replacement to Surrey Memorial Hospital’s current E.R. The Foundation’s $15-million campaign will ensure the new Emergency Centre is state-of-the-art. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2008.
