April 21, 2009 SMH baby tile wall ready Surrey, B.C. – A newly painted mural at Surrey Memorial Hospital is now displaying the first tributes to some of the thousands of births that occur at the hospital each year. Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation’s “Bundle of Joy” baby tile program allows proud parents and their loved ones to commemorate a birth with a permanent and personalized baby tile on a decorated wall just outside of the hospital’s Family Birthing Unit. The first tiles to be added to the wall feature recent newborns, births that have taken place in past years, as well as in-memory tributes. The tiles include one honouring Surrey Memorial Hospital’s 4,000th birth of 2008.
