Neonatal Intensive Care Infant Monitors ($25,000 each, 11 needed) - Premature infants need 24 hour monitoring to ensure that they receive immediate care in the event of any complications. A physiological monitor is designed to do just that – it continuously monitors the baby’s heart rate, body temperature, blood pressure, oxygen levels and more. A necessary diagnostic tool, it records this information to give care providers the information required to respond to the unique needs of these tiny infants.
This equipment is so advanced that it can now link up to other areas within the hospital – laboratory, pharmacy and other diagnostic and treatment areas – and transfer vital patient information. It keeps the medical care team constantly updated on the baby’s progress and alerts them to any changes that may require immediate attention.
Neonatal Cardiac Echo Machine ($120,000) - Many of the problems affecting premature or critically ill babies are associated with abnormalities of the heart and circulation. This equipment would help provide the best outcomes for fragile babies.
Avalon Telemetry Fetal Monitor ($38,000) - This monitor provides continuous monitoring of the mother and baby during labor and delivery. It monitors and measures the baby's movements and heart rate, uterine activity and the mother's heart rate and blood pressure.
Omnibed Incubators ($65,000 each) - This is a state of the art incubator for premature and critically ill newborns. Among its critical benefits, the technology helps maintain normal body temperature and avoids the need to move the newborn frequently – something that can have a harmful effect on blood pressure and heart rate. Donors have purchased a few already and more are needed as our neonatal intensive care unit expands.
Pediatric Gastroscope ($37,551) - This is a fiber-optic tool used to diagnose illnesses of the esophagus, stomach, and small intestine. It is also used to treat bleeding, remove polyps, and close small tears, thereby avoiding the need for surgery. This tool is required for adult use and will also be available to treat pediatric patients.
